Experience Counts

Bob Sawyer has been designing web sites since 1996. Before that, however, he was a print designer and desktop publisher for six years. Bob received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1991 from the University of Georgia's Lamar Dodd School of Art. Bob got his first Internet account in 1995, and shortly thereafter began building his own web sites from scratch.

Bob's first foray into professional web design and development came while working for Deloitte Consulting in Atlanta, Georgia. The local partners wanted an intranet that would connect the Consulting office with the Accounting office located in another building downtown. Bob jumped at the opportunity, and soon had a very rudimentary intranet set up on the office file server. The server, unfortunately, did not handle anything beyond the most basic HTML pages, so web forms and databases and scripts were not technically possible. Nevertheless, the original goal of connecting the two offices, allowing basic file sharing, employee information, and other documents, was achieved.

In 1998, Bob left Deloitte to form his first freelance web firm, Built for the Future. He left the freelance world behind several months later when his largest client, NationalNet, offered him a full-time position. While working for NationalNet, Bob was an early adopter of Web Standards, and began coding by hand in XHTML and CSS. He also began advocating web site accessibility and usability standards.

In 2002, Bob began developing dynamic web sites with PHP and MySQL. In the years since, Bob has developed numerous custom content management systems, shopping carts, and dynamic sites for personal and professional use. Most recently, Bob has begun developing sites using the CodeIgniter and ExpressionEngine frameworks.

The Independent Appraisal Guide is the premier guide for diminished value reports. The IAG needed a site that would allow them to market to insurance companies, law firms, and other interested parties, set up new client profiles, and generate diminished value reports for these clients. Pixels and Code created a minimalistic front-end, and coded a sophisticated back-end system that allows IAG to create and track clients, generate highly accurate DV reports, which are then printed and/or saved to PDF and sent to the client. | Visit Site >
